Election Integrity as a National Security Issue
As Kamala Harris and Donald Trump gear up to debate next Tuesday, there are a lot of concerns about election integrity in in the US. Join us for a discussion next Wednesday, 9/11 at 6pm ET.
September just sneaks up on ya…. But we love September, it’s Virgo season.
Happy birthday to my birthday twin Bene, Shaifali, Angela, and while they don’t read Interruptrr, their mom does, to Claire and Alexander!
Our break is almost over. We’ll be back next week with our regular newsletter. (And so much happening in the world!) We did want to send you this pre-back to school edition to highlight a terrific and timely book out, Our Nation at Risk: Election Integrity as a National Security Issue.
Interruptrr gal pal Karen Greenberg is an editor of the book. Karen is the Director of the Center on National Security at Fordham Law. She is the genius behind the Center on National Security Morning Brief, which you should sign up for.
The book “brings together the nation’s top political scientists, historians, and legal scholars to examine how the lack of stability and integrity of the electoral process has become a threat to national security.” How did these problems emerge? We can ask Karen. We’re doing a book discussion with her, next Wednesday, September 11 at 6pm via Zoom - a day after the Harris-Trump debate. I’m eager to dive into this discussion, especially as Trump amps up questions about voter rolls and mail-in balloting and there is talk about more foreign interference, via not just Russia but Iran and China. RSVP here.
We’ve partnered with Tertulia, a female-led online bookstore, to give Interruptrr readers a 20 percent discount on this book. Use code NATION
Other things of note:
On Monday, September 9 at 1pm ET, Women’s Funding Network and Feminist Foreign Policy Collaborative will host a discussion: Opportunities to Advance Feminist Foreign Policy. With ongoing wars in so many places, and the steady rise of the right, who are hostile to women, this is an important conversation. RSVP required.
I’m opening up my column to others. Please pitch me your op-ed idea/perspective. Let’s get more female perspectives. Email me on endeavoringe@gmail.com or respond to this post.
